Summon:
Iras is a ratel (Mellivora capensis), just slightly larger than a normal honey badger. She's fanatical, hot-tempered, insensitive, and in possession of an overwhelming ego.Power:
Her relationship with Faith can be rather abusive. She's willing to do anything short of actual intimidation to get him to do what she wants, and he's generally dependent and passive enough to let her do it.
Her intention is to control every aspect of his life: according to her, he must devote himself completely to assuming the pain of others and follow her orders.
But in times of trouble, he can rely on her for her fearlessness and even a semblance of wisdom, as distorted as the latter may be.
To put it simply, he heals, often in the most disadvantageous way possible.Weapon:
The ability manifests itself in two ways:
He can assume the injuries of others, leaving them uninjured. In most cases, this requires skin contact and is aided by a previous relationship with the patient.
Obviously, he doesn't take on any injuries when he heals himself and it's far less strenuous, but he cannot completely heal the injuries that he's taken on willingly.
His presence also subtly boosts healing within the range of ten feet or so - wounds around him generally heal clean and sickness tends to be relieved slightly. It literally uses up his strength, though normally the effect on his energy levels is small. The effect tends to increase when he is distressed or agitated, as well as when he is around people who require a lot of healing; he cannot control this manifestation of the power.
He has no weapons at this time.Appearance:
Faith is short, with a slender build that gives the impression of fragility. His brown skin is unmarked by blemishes, save for a number of curious, curling scars or tattoos upon his forearms. Dark brown curls fall down to his shoulders, a few grey streaks throughout them. His slanted, chestnut-brown eyes are framed by delicate features, which seem perpetually hollow and tired. In fact, that is the very impression that he gives: that of a weak person dangerously close to succumbing to despair and exhaustion.History:
His choice in clothing tends to be utilitarian, shirt and flared pants often in muted colors of green and brown.
Kiros , once Kiros Are, was a runaway with little chance of redemption, but he believed. He believed in redemption, freedom, the soul, and hope, and he tried to raise himself and others higher. He had faith in everything, and especially the goodness of humanity, and though he came close to despair, he never found it. He was an inspiration to those who knew him for that reason - though there were just as many who considered him mad.Behaviour:
Even then, there was a passivity to him, with one exception. As he watched a child get attacked in the street, he ran to help - in retrospect, also his most foolish decision, seeing as he was unarmed at the time.
A knife in his chest. Blood and his own choked scream. The last thing he remembers after that is a voice, whispering for him to have faith.
Kiros Are was found dead a few hours later of multiple stab wounds to the chest, the body of a child lying beside him.
When the Virtue Faith awoke four days later, he was alone, and there was a badger who took his name and told him that from now on, he would be a healer and a warrior, a symbol of good.
...And that did not really work out.
Passive remains the word that best describes Faith - he'll let others do as they please, usually so long as they don't harm others. He's not the most mature or wisest of the Virtues by any stretch - he'd been young when he died, still in possession of a wide-eyed innocence that came mainly out of a refusal to admit the truth.Other:
In his dealings, he's mild-mannered and polite, occasionally showing a streak of playfulness and well-meaning mischief - though these times have been rarer of late. He is rather naive and tries to believe the best of people, feeling guilty when he does not. And he is quite adept at ruminating upon his guilt.
In the end, he's a dreamer: he loves stories, weaving them and hearing them. Escapism is one of the things that stabilizes him, and he can be expected to listen to a story at almost any time - and a refusal to do so shows that things are terribly wrong.
By now his faith is perilously lacking. Oh - he still believes in the goodness of people, and for this reason he will treat even a Sin with civility. Yet he cannot believe in himself, and it doesn't help that his summon is terribly negative. He's emotionally drained so often, when he hasn't abused his body trying to heal others.
He's strangely adamant on remaining Kiros on some level; while he's grateful to the Virtues for taking him in, he is slightly bitter about Kiros-the-badger's theft of his name and identity. He shows it in acts of occasional passive-aggression and in generally being a nervous wreck.
There's a streak of cowardice in him, which he is ashamed of. He feels useless and helpless. He doesn't like the pain that comes with healing - there's always a moment of hesitation before he offers someone his hand, and he loathes himself for it. In the end, he's willing to heal, because what else is he good for?
In summary: good person with sorely-tried faith, which isn't helped by mental immaturity, PTSD, and an abusive summon.
Hopefullythe name isn't taken - couldn't find a reserved name list or anything.Journal:
If it is, guess he could be Sacrifice or something else instead?
