Electric blue. Flecks of white and azure splashed across the color of the velvet bound book. In faded engraved gold, the words "Vengeance is Sweet" could be seen on the front cover.
You try to open up this book, but couldn't; its locked. A silver glint catches your eye in the dusty sunlight. A small key, as long as your thumb (maybe slightly shorter), gives you a hint. You reach towards the key just an arms reach across the table, and grasp it, feeling it's texture.
The key is exactly the size of the keyhole on the underside of the diary, and it fits when you stick it in.
Do you open the diary and satisfy your curiosity, or leave it as it is, so as not to invoke the wrath of it's owner?
Assuming you do open up the book, there it is, scrawled on the first page, in black, scratchy ink, were a bunch of quotes:
If revenge is sweet, why does it leave such a bitter taste? —E. C. McKenzie
Revenge has no more quenching effect on emotions than salt water has on thirst. —Walter Weckler
Revenge is the sword that wounds the one who wields it. —E. C. McKenzie
Live well. It is the greatest revenge. —The Talmud
You flip the page. Emptiness greets you. More page flipping. More emptiness. Just as you are about to give up, the first page starts to fill up with words, as if ink had just been spilled onto the page.
Slowly, slowly, the ink shrinks and forms words that could be read. Would you read it, or close the book out of fear?

Note: Written in diary format, first person perspective. Some notes will be added at the end. This is Gea's history.Diary entries. Great, you probably think. This very prologue introduces you to what started it all: A new life turned upside down. I will not leave you until I have seen you hanged. - Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoJanuary 31, 3770, 5:42pm.Am grounded. Mom said I shouldn't have thrown sand in Mr. Bimmer's face. But he was being mean to Papa, what with talking about interest rates and all that jazz. Papa told all of us to keep out of it (it would probably mean his business with Mr. Bimmer), but he had been looking more and more depressed lately. Rix said it was all Mr. Bimmer's fault that Papa looks like a white ghost lately. I wonder why?
Since it was Mr. Bimmer's fault, I just HAD to throw sand at the smirking fatty's face. Doesn't Mom see it as me helping Papa? Ah well. Being grounded again means that it's Zack's turn to visit me. I hope he brings me fried lobster...
Hang on, I hear something outside---- oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoMarch 2, 3770, 12:14am.Continuing from my last diary entry. Don't know how this diary stuck with me, but now I have something to vent out on.
Who knew Mr Bimmer could take offense from a little sand throwing? Apparently, according to Rix, dad had owed Mr Bimmer a lot of money. Mr Bimmer was getting impatient, because dad was taking his time paying up.
I don't know why I'm so calm about what had happened lately. Maybe its this new life.
So because of all this owing, Mr Bimmer set his 'boys' on us. Us as in, the entire village. Even old Mrs Picklefish wasn't spared. I saw her 2 days ago with her head lying a few metres away from her body. I couldn't find mom, or Roza, or Rix, or Ryan. I did see dad though. It wasn't a pretty sight. I don't think I'll describe him.
But I do know that in that condition, Mr Bimmer can't be expecting dad to pay back anymore.
I did try looking for Zack, but all I've found... is his entire house burned down. Mr and Mrs Lowe is not there either. Bimmer probably killed them off too.
Oh, I wasn't spared, if thats what you're thinking. Sure, I had a head start to run, thanks to Rix and Roza, but Bimmer's men are like... hunting dogs or something. The pain.. I couldn't really describe it. I was left to rot by the sea.
All these supposedly happened a month ago. I woke up.. say, almost a week ago.
At this point, you'd probably be thinking, "What, is this being written by some ghost?" Nah, not a ghost. I mean, I'm still in my body. A ghost can't write. All that ghosts could probably do is just make your hair stand on ends and phase through walls to say Boo or something.
The village is a mess. All I could feel is numbness, and maybe.. anger. I kinda feel different too. Like, Rozanne is no longer Rozanne.
Maybe I was given this new life to find retribution. Maybe the Gods thought that it was unfair of Mr Bimmer, and sent me as his punishment, a spirit of Vengeance.
I like that thought. Perhaps that could be my name from now onwards. 'Vengeance', also known as Gea. Sounds good. First things first, where should I live now? I don't think hiding out in this funky temple would be fitting for a person seeking revenge.
And secondly, a strange big white otter has been by my side for a while now. Whats funny, is that this white otter has funky looking markings. And can talk. Since when do otters talk? Hold on, you did not just---
The otter rolled her eyes at me! Whatever. The otter is apparently a 'she'. And her name is apparently 'Eliade', not 'The Otter'. Okay okay. I think I should take a little nap. Besides, who would find me here?oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoMarch 2, 3770, 5:00a.m.So, I couldn't sleep. The waves of the ocean were soothing and all (always has been since I was a baby, said mom), but I think someone's watching me. I've been singing to myself, the song of the ocean waves my family has always sang.
Didn't really help. Feeling of someone watching strong as ever.
Of course someone's watching me; there's a pair of black boots right in front of me.. Hang on. In front of me?oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoMarch 2, 3770, 7:10pm.In my new bedroom. Empress Taint was real nice, in a funny way. Apparently I am a 'Sin'. I am the Sin of 'Vengeance'. So my theory was somewhat accurate! Go figure.
She explained some bits of complicated stuff to me, something about a Prophecy and Virtues being a bunch of goody two shoes (haven't met them yet). The Empress brought me to this gloomy but homey looking castle. Talk about awesome! I get to live in a castle instead of a temple! And apparently there are some people like me in this castle too.
I am apparently given free reign to my room. I'll have to start decorating as of tomorrow.
Eliade the white otter followed me to my room, all the way from the temple. She said she was my 'summoned' or something like that, and will never leave my side. I feel somewhat touched. I'll buy her something to sleep on, if thats the case. I shouldn't be mean to something thats gonna be by my side forever and ever, right?
I wonder if Kim is still in town? To have my little revenge, I think it is fitting to have a proper weapon.
Preferably something sharp and stabby.oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoMarch 5, 3770, 4:00pmI had been so busy lately. Kim, the ever eccentric, has been in town! So glad to bump into her while buying this large blue bean bag. Eliade really didn't leave my side. Well, maybe for a second, but she claimed that she was sleeping too soundly to hear me walk out of the room.
I've also been given this moderately sized bag of money (how nice) to spend. So I've commissioned Kim for a weapon, but what it would be, she said it would be a surprise. She is totally surprised that I am alive, since she had heard of my village burning down to mush. Obviously, I had to lie about my being alive part.
But the best part about Kim? Not only does she make just about anything for a fair price, she never ask questions! Like just a few months ago when I had bought a extendable arm from her just to nick Madame Caruso's fresh mackerel and Ci Ci's doll. She totally let me go without asking why I wanted one! Haha.
Collecting weapon today! I can't wait to test it out! It would be totally cool. I could combine it with my newfound powers (oh yes, I have some. It was really distracting me yesterday when I found out about it). I wonder how far does this liquid manipulation extend to? So far, I could move water. And make it float around me, which looks like awesome CGI effect. Except there were no computers to move it about.
Do you think its possible to manipulate blood? I should try. Maybe Mr. Bimmer would like to be my guinea pig. Hah. I'll bet he'd be one surprised fatty when he sees me again. Oh, I see Kim. Be right back.oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo Note: Rix, Roza and Ryan are Gea's past life's siblings. Besides her past life's dad, it is not confirmed that the rest are alive or not.
Zack is supposedly her best friend (or if you'd like to see it as something else, her romantic interest). What had happened to him and his family is unclear as well.
This is taken from her diary, on the day where Rozanne/Gea's life had taken a drastic turn, and a chain of events had started. From a simple life in a village by the sea, to one of a Sin.
You'll probably guess that Mr. Bimmer met his end at a massacre masquerade.
This is only included because how Gea had came to be a Sin was never roleplayed out. So enjoy ;D
EDIT: Because I successfully confused myself reading, if the dates are wrong, I will have no idea what to change them to ^^; So I'll make it as Gea writing according to the Human timeline. She is quite old o.o

Note: Okay. I think I see a few grammar mistakes and what not. It will be fixed when I have more time. More things to be added here as well. After reading the journal entries, you wonder if there was more to this mysterious book. You flip the page, and neat, measured handwriting, fills up what was a blank page before. As you can guess, it was a totally different person who wrote this chapter. More diary entries? Are you kidding? No. I am not. No more tears now; I will think about revenge. - Mary, Queen of Scots
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoChapter 2: the Skies Divided - Of Love and WaroOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo-x- Profile of Empress Vengeance, year 4506-4509, 810-813 OTPoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo23, Month of Fire, year 4506 -[1:30pm]- So. Its been... who knows how long since I've actually touched this journal? I remember the day Roza gave it to me for Christmas. I rarely ever fill this book in; its a beautiful book.
Though I'm not sure of it's memories.
Its summer, GOD IT'S HOT. I think I'm melting from this sweltering heat... Though of course, I could get the rain to drop by Kham'hur, but I don't think the villagers appreciates me summoning the rain once too often.
So we're all finally settled in. The place is the bomb! Sure, I supposed we all preferred the gloomy fortress in Desarith and all, but you can't deny that this place is beautiful as well. Its like all of us just took a vacation from reality.
Not to mention the natives of this island! They think we're some sort of gods and goddesses, or spirits! XD Its cute. They offer food to us like, every day. We'll never starve ever again! Not that we ever will or do, since this island is filled to brim with FRUITS. Coconuts, pineapples, bananas, you name it, this island grows it.
Whats better, this island is unknown to outsiders. Even I didn't know about it! We just started traveling randomly after that day (We scared the people on the ship into letting us on it, haha) and reached this island...
Maybe thats why they think we're some sort of heavenly beings. Hah. If only they knew the truth.
Hopefully them goody two shoes will never find this island. Splitting up with them had BETTER be a good idea. Bah, I'll continue some other time. Hay fever, d**n.-Gea PS: If Terror doesn't shut his mouth about "The Empressie is cryin'", I will kick him off the cliff. oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo1, Month of Thunder, year 4506 -[10:15am]- I've forgotten to continue off where I have left it XD Whoops.
I've discovered something new this morning! Terror, as usual, was being a pain in the you-know-where, and Vanity and I were pissed off because he ruined breakfast. After much finger pointing, cursing, and screaming, I zapped him.
Yes, zapped him. How, I do not understand. I do know, however, that THAT burn mark will last for awhile ;D The month of Thunder has brought me lightning! Score!
Yesterday, I've discovered something. I haven't told anyone yet (and probably not planning to, except to Pride), and, dear diary, you'd be the first to know.
After much talking to Kyra (this sweet little jewelery seller), she has revealed where the villagers get their stock from for their Saturday morning and evening market! Because I've suspected that this little island can't possibly churn out everything they're selling in the market. (hey, they once sold a watch, and an antique alarm clock! If this island were to be a lost civilization, they wouldn't have technology, would they?)
What I didn't know was that the villagers keep a boat in a hidden cove somewhere on the island (haven't explored fully, so I don't know where, but Kyra and Tyna promised to show me, with full permission from their parents and the village elder), and the boat travels back and forth from Kham'hur to INDAFELL.
Okay, maybe not Indafell, but a port near Indafell. It would be near where Pride is wandering around, possibly spying on them goody two shoes! So we won't be outdated on whatever events happening there...
So, good news about this discovery? I can keep in touch with Pride, and possibly Deception and the others. Once in a while, it might be possible for Pride to send over a newbie Sin, though I don't think this should happen often; too suspicious. News can reach us, instead of us being left out (and possibly forgotten. Shivers.)
Other than that, no one questions the strange presence of the villagers at Indafell. They just buy off them, or trade, or sell. Whatever it is that they do there.
Bad news is, it is possible that the Virtues might be able to discover us through this. But the chances are 1 in a million, I think. These villagers look no different from the people in Indafell. They blend in perfectly.
Unless the OCSNB do a lot of digging... I better warn the islanders to not give out this sort of information. Or start praising us like the way they do when they see us while trading. Not only would it be a little embarrassing, it would give us away.
And that is exactly what I do not want.-Gea PS: Sigh. I miss them both. oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo15, Month of Life, year 4506 -[5:11pm]- Joys and jubilations! Guess who I've discovered lives here?
Kim's descendants! To be honest, this whole immortal thing is a little funny to get used to. I know I've outlived Kim and all, but her great great (whatever) grand daughter looks like her. Eerily so.
Who knew the person who had made my weapon had lived here? This is why I say this island is unknown to the outside world! Or at least, the villagers never talk about the island and never got discovered. I never, never even thought of asking Kim where she came from.
Anyway, her great great (WHATEVER) grandson is a nice boy. He refurbished my spear So it looks shinier and prettier (and sharper), especially when shrunk. Not so obvious that I'm carrying a mini spear now, hah.
Been practicing. I swear, the element of Air hates me. I can't get it to work! Okay, maybe I can get a nice cool breeze to blow my way, but thats it. I suppose its an improvement from levitating an inch off the ground for 3 seconds.
But I've gotten a slight grasp of using electricity, I think. I wonder what else I can discover though? -Gea oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo23, Month of Mind, year 4507 -[1:16pm]- I know I haven't written much the last year after a few entries, but whatever. I swear, the islanders have one too many events and festivals.
When the ship came in this morning, boy, did I get a surprise.
When Pride sent back a message through Eiramael (having a fast bird summon sure is handy for Terror. Luckily I can make use of him) that there would be a 'surprise' coming with the ship, I never expected him to send in a new Sin. Well, actually, I didn't know what to expect, cause I didn't think of Pride as someone who gives surprises.
What the hell, that new Sin is HOT. I don't think I was the only person to have noticed.
His name is Avarice, though he himself doesn't know it. Refers to himself as Fay, poor soul. The islanders seem happy with another addition.
He hasn't said much, but he promised he would tell me more about himself the next day. Too tired, I think. He's sleeping now, and the girls are all giggling outside his room. I think I shall go over and tell them not to pester him. He needs his sleep.-Gea oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo2, Month of Water, year 4507 -[7:35pm]- Eating dinner at the moment.
Avarice has settled in nicely, and gets along with everyone, especially the girls. Except maybe Terror, who is being slightly hostile to him. I don't get what's his problem, but psh. Terror is, and has always been, annoying.
Apparently Avarice has a kid brother who went off to where Deception and Mischief are at. I think the boy's name is Imad, but I'm sure he has a Sin name as well. Will inquire about it more.
And one good thing that came out of sending Imad off to Lehaita is that both Avarice and his brother can communicate with each other mentally! And theres something about teleportation, but Avarice wasn't too sure. He was more dazed than focused. Don't blame him, I know how it feels.
And because of that, I got a little mind-telegram from Mischief! Says he misses me, and everyone else, and said Deception is a horrible icicle. I'm sure that's an exaggeration though. He says he has no idea why they have to move to Lehaita, though I'm pretty sure the reason was because :
1) It was, and is still, Deception's favourite environment 2) I doubt that Purity would want to prance all the way up Lehaita's harsh peaks. 3) An---
Sigh, these people. Never behave. A piece of celery stick just flew past my head, and I think someone's getting ready to throw that delicious custard. Gotta go and stop a food fight before these Sins embarrass us out of the island.-Gea PS: Ignore the spilled sour cream on this page. Its totally Terror's fault =.=[/color] oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo4, Month of Water, year 4507 -[9:32pm]- Hey, look! Another journal entry not a few months (or years) apart from each other! I kid you not.
I had fun helping Avarice out with his training, and sparring with him. He adapts quite well, and is quite the sweet thing. Gentlemen are rare on this island, the locals are nice, but they can be quite blunt sometimes. He helps me with the littlest things! (like running errands, or carrying stuff) So sweet. He says he doesn't even mind, when I said I felt guilty making him do so much for a new blood.
He's getting quite good with those sandstorm creations we've discovered a day or two ago. Fast learner. I think Vanity has taken a liking to him as well? No, not just her. I'm sure the other girls like him too. I dunno what Regret would think though, Sadness seems to be opening up too. But that might just be my imagination. I must hold a girly conference. The guy is giving off vibes, I swear! Good ones too. We girls must discuss
Terror is still Terror, he keeps giving him those sour looks, but Regret seemed to be getting along fine, almost like brothers? Which was why I don't know what Regret would say if he sees Sadness so much as talking to Avarice.
Oh gawds, I'm not writing a gossip column here! I rambled on and on.
Tomorrow, I'm setting them off to spar with each other. Just for fun, I'm putting Avarice against Terror. What would happen? Will both attempt to kill each other? Will I actually write in the journal again tomorrow night about it? Stay tuned, dear Diary, stay tuned.Gea PS: Did I mention that Avarice is totally hot, and that I've got another letter from Mischief? I still haven't opened it, but the rose was a nice touch. Where did he get such things in Lehaita?
PPS: Vanity says she misses someone from Desarith. OMG WHO.oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoNote: More will be added
