" Embrace" Lay beside me and show me the world Filled with beauty and wonder Consumed by darkness, so divine.
Hold me in your arms And whisper promises so that They may become tainted in the ashes The ashes that we breathe within the fire Within the fire that burns in our souls
It's not too late, To change the errors of our ways. We were young, restless Just searching for a place to belong, Without really opening our hearts
We don't need global peace, Flowers and sweet things. Those are illusions; givin' to us So that we may dream.
We've dreamt of worlds Filled with peace Ignoring the pleas of the pain That settles in our souls You cannot face truth Without an open mind
There is beauty in this world Truly, there is. But first you must Open your eyes, open your soul To love what is abandoned. To forgive what can be forgotten.
So, lay by me; hold me in your arms. Whisper the truth to me, I'm not afraid of the pain. It's better than being numb, to not feel your touch Burning within me.
We can be together; forever, And let that love sleep; forever sleep, In the darkness that few embrace.

"Wasted"I can't understand why it has to be this way We're all running and running into this fray Why can't we just stop and think Before we fall and forever sink Don't you get it?
I've screamed until my lungs collapsed I've fallen more times then I care to know I've never forgotten or forgiven my past Don't you know that peace will never last Can't you feel it?
That's life, that's life Until it all dies That's why we will not shift We will not hold down It's the way we hold on It's they way we fall
Is our reality just a dream Are we hiding beneath the cracks? If we were shown the truth Would it blind our eyes? If you could care to know Would it change? Would you understand?
Have I held out my heart For all the wrong reasons? Have I held out my soul For you to grasp it? Will you know when to end? Do you know the answer? Problem, solution, mistaken Elaborated
Don't you make me realize Make me see the light Don't you show me the pain For all of our mistakes Don't you know that it cannot be fixed By a simple calculation, solution It's a lie
Faith is my mistake To hold on, without giving in You can't hope, you can't wait For your saviours to come to you Strength is not a gift Faith is no support Stand up, and feel the pain Feel the pain, feel our mistakes And hold onto what you believe
Hold onto what you've deceived Scream upon to what you have seen Hold onto your pain Forgive the insane And pick yourself up again

:'D I love your work, Matt. Especially the second one there. It makes perfect sense to me, whereas most poems (of anyones) I just read and go ....huh?

Thank you! =] I love just writing what's ever on my mind. I appreciate poems and literature that is like you guys said a little more confusing and honestly what most people think all poetry is like, but that's just not me. I write from my heart and mind, and although often raw, I love it when people understand where I'm coming from and enjoy the way I write. I believe writing doesn't have to be structured. Just let it flow. =] Anyways, here's something I wrote awhile back that I wouldn't mind some thoughts on: "Inspire The Change"Poised, ready with filth in the open wound unnoticed. Strum the strings, ripples in a pool of blood, that reflects the significance of one dream against reality.
Range of tone in the spirit of an army cry as the weak men die. With the deed of destruction, they own your fate, bound by iron-rusted bars.
Gone without a second glance. Gone without a second chance.
A world without rules, measures is a place I feel in my head. Screams of worn, once proud animals need not carry intent attention.
Before you sense change in your perfect word, it'll all be over soon. An underwater grave filled once again, washed away like ashes in another lost trail.
The mothers, the fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers. All I recall to have loved, were always guilty.
Gone without a second chance. Gone without a second glance.
Close my eyes this night, and forget the nightmares to come. It'll be alright. They're only bad dreams after all.
Long ago, although it seems just like the other day, a close friend of mine questioned what it was we were fighting for.
It was just an innocent curiousity, and now he's gone without a second wish for a better world. The inspiration from this was just me thinking one day, seriously about war and how when things change there is always a tense conflict or resistance involved. When good men fight for what they believe in, and are never given the proper recognition. It's very deep and dark. I have two good friends who are in the army, and I have such great respect for them.

This one is good O: Kinda like Wilfred Owen's poem (we're learning "Dulce Et Decorum Est" in school for English Lit.), but I think I like your style better

So I'm better than a famous person you're learning from in English class? Ahah, sweet! =p This is another personal fav. of mine: "Natural Lesson"As I hear the beating of the thunder passing overhead and the teardrops fresh upon my skin, it reminds me of what I was to learn as she walked away with her breath still fresh on my trembling lips.
Darkened rain clouds part to allow the light in your eyes from slowly dying out, when darkness embraces you again the life in your heart will beat, still in rhythm with thunder and rain as everything else rests, peacefully.
Rising, the heat of new embrace may shrivel up your new found hope with doubt, misery, all that is to fear in change and in new feelings never thought to be explored.
Though the wind may blow your shaking voice down in the gutter, you must stand ground as the lightning defies you.
As the last brilliant flash of the terrible emotions pierces the skies, penetrating the darkened clouds to end this choked conflict until another current feeds upon it once again.
You will know to resist everything that screamed run and take the chance of a moments worth of beauty.

"Ascension"
See a man here Crushed and broken And left with nothing That resembles memories So long forgotten; so far away
No one can relate Or show compassion to him See this man So faded, full of fear That his dreams Dwindle away
This world cradles this man's life In bleak distortion His life is hanging by the strings Lies again and again He can't predict the outcome In the darkness, He feels sweet embrace
They have power And they pull the strings He sees only what is told He does only what is shown None of his pain can go And his dreams Are always drifting
This world pushes this man's life In sharp clarity His life is falling in the hourglass Lies again and again He can't predict the outcome In the darkness, He sees nothing
The cogs and gears Of time and motion are held near He finally breaks through Screaming years of torment In moments of retribution His dreams are the reality That his life is free With no strings attached
This world holds this man's life In stark reverance His life is in his control Lies again and again He can't predict the outcome In the darkness, He finds hidden truth
Broken wings, fallen With nothing to resemble But a clear window With a reflection of the man This one has become To choose his path And face the consequences With a conscious that is his own
