Tobor is a white dove, capable of carrying messages at short distances. She is unquestioningly obedient, and very affectionate towards Altruism. She doesn't really interact with anyone else. Once her message is delivered, she will immediately fly away. She is either going back to Altruism, or waiting until the person whom the message was for has a reply.Power:
Sometimes, she will scout ahead of Altruism, but not often, as she fears birds of prey and for her sake, so does Altruism.
Altruism returns her affection and cares deeply for her. He is always like that, for his close friends especially.
During his life, he underwent intense physical training to be able to move extremely fast and without sound.Weapon:
His power adds to this. To go unnoticed, he can stop moving entirely, even going so far as to stop breathing for a time.
During life, he trained with many kinds of weapons. Dangerous with any of them, he does have favourites. He likes to have a short knife in the left hand and a longer one in the right. Both have curving blades, not unlike small cutlasses.Appearance:
Of average height, he is about 5' 10''. He is very thin, and what muscle he has is not heavy. His skin is rather pale.History:
His hair is pure white and falls to his mid-back. The longer parts are in many small braids, interspersed with multi-coloured beads.
Because of his pale colouring and hair, Altruism's eye colour can be rather shocking. They are a vibrant green.
In the middle of his chest, he has a scar in the shape of a rune from his far-off homeland. (This will be explained more in the history.)
He likes to wear clothing that is comfortable and unrestrictive. He often wears clothing such as shirts and pants that are semi-tight so as not to be caught on anything, but also do not limit movement.
He hates being unprepared, but likes to leave his arms free, so he will not carry a bag or pack. Instead, he always has numerous pockets on his clothing. He often uses them to carry things like spare bowstrings (even though he doesn't carry a bow, he might use one, or someone else might need one.) or small honing tools.
If he wants to be stealthy, he will wear colours that blend in with his surroundings. If he wants to be blatantly noticeable, he will wear bright colours like oranges, blues and yellows, often in jarring combinations.
Altruism was born as a boy named Vayn. Vayn lived in a small peasant village outside of his country's capital. Being peasants, his family did not always have much food, so often as not, Vayn went hungry. He was always rather thin, and it was hard from him to develop muscle.Behaviour:
When he was seven years old, his village was destroyed by a fire, and his parents were killed. With nowhere to go, Vayn wandered into the capital, hoping to find food.
His time in the city was not pleasant. He lived on the streets and saw horrible things. His mind, that of a child, did not understand why this was such a terrible place. He believed it to be the fault of the people who ruled the city.
He reasoned that it was not wrong to do bad things to bad people. He decided to sneak past the palace walls and steal from them.
Vayn didn't know the layout inside the walls, so when he climbed over, he was surprised to find himself in a small garden occupied by a young boy of about five years. Thinking quickly, he convinced the boy not to sound the alarm by telling him that he was there to play. He was very lucky, as it turned out that the boy was very lonely and trusting, with no other friends. He believed Vayn's story and introduced himself as Hallow. He was the prince, and heir to the throne. Vayn realized how lucky he truly was at hearing this. If the boy had called the guards, he probably would have been killed.
Vayn told Hallow of his parents' death, and how he was now homeless. Innocent boy that he was, Hallow took Vayn to his father, the king. He asked if Vayn could live in the castle.
The king did not care. To him, peasants were like horses. If his son wanted one, he could have one, so long as he took care of it.
Vayn lived with Hallow and shared everything with him. They shared the same room and went everywhere together. Hallow cherished Vayn as an end to his loneliness, and Vayn dedicated his entire existence to Hallow. Hallow had very likely saved his life. Vayn would always put Hallow first, even above his own survival.
When Vayn was fourteen, he was torn away from Hallow. In that country, some children were chosen to train in a set of seven monasteries on an island far from the mainland. Students of these monasteries were renowned assassins. A representative of the monasteries came to court one spring, and gathered any youths above ten years old. Vayn prayed that Hallow would not be chosen, but forgot himself. Hallow was indeed not chosen, but Vayn was. Both boys were devastated.
Vayn promised Hallow that he would one day return and upon arrival at the monasteries, threw himself into his training. The training would allow him to protect Hallow.
The training lasted for seven years, and at the end, Vayn was to undergo a sort of transformation that all initiates must face. This entailed drinking a poison that would split his spirit. The split would make him both more and less than human if he survived it. The discarded half would most likely be destroyed.
Vayn drank the poison and lapsed into unconsciousness. The discarded spirit, feeling itself dying, called out to anything to save it, not knowing what it was doing. The spirit was answered, and became Altruism. A being who exists purely for others.
On his chest, where his spirit ripped, Altruism was left with a scar in the shape of a rune used in the monasteries.
The spirit split left Altruism with large gaps in his memory, but he will always remember Hallow, and his dedication to him.
Altruism is sometimes bitter at the fact that all he wanted in life was to be by Hallow's side, and yet that is the one thing that he was denied before death. He will usually try to put that behind him however, and focus at the matter at hand.Other:
When with others. he is usually cheerful, loud and sarcastic. Even certain destruction cannot dampen his cheer. Alone, he is mindful of the noise he makes, and tends to be silent.
Some people find his cheerfulness unnerving, especially since he tends to stroke his knives when he wants something.
Seeing suffering of any kind makes him sad, and he wishes that the person suffering had someone to save them, as he was saved by Hallow.
Altruism will not wear shoes or boots of any kind. They are too noisy.Journal:
The beads he wears in his hair are designed to click together. They were part of his training to move without them making noise, an extremely difficult task, but one that he has become practiced at.
Altruism's pale appearance is a result of the spirit split. As a human, his skin had an average tone, and his hair was brown. He was also a few inches shorter.

I hope this is okay. I'm new to this kind of stuff, but I'd like to try. I'm completely open to suggestions and criticism, so rip it apart if it needs it!
