ATTENTION!
This has yet to be properly updated! Although most things are correct, we are in the process of balancing power between the forces listed here. If you see me contradicting this when I make comments on character sheets, please disregard this and pay attention to what I say on your sheet. Will update soon, thanks.

Just as we have twelve months in the year, the immortals in the Realm have a twelve-month calendar. However, titles like "January" or "April" have no meaning to them- instead, each month is represented as one of the twelve wielded elements, from where a character will receive their elemental power. Likewise, seasons are important for knowing who you get your power from. It's not uncommon to see a virtue praying to Taint for the element of wind, or a sin bowing before Nitchenda for blessing them with ice. The elements, like summons, are a neutral territory where foe can be friend if they both use the same one.
Below, is listed the month as we know it, the element, the season, and a description of the range of power that the element allows a character to control. Good luck choosing!
January - Mind - Winter
February - Water - Winter
March - Stone - Spring
April - Body - Spring
May - Earth - Spring
June - Shade - Summer
July - Energy - Summer
August - Fire - Summer
September - Thunder - Autumn
October - Life - Autumn
November - Air - Autumn
December - Ice - Winter
-----
Seasons: Who Rules What
Winter - Nitchenda [Purity's Summon]
Spring - Purity
Summer - Larketh [Taint's Summon]
Autumn - Taint

Below, is listed the month as we know it, the element, the season, and a description of the range of power that the element allows a character to control. Good luck choosing!
January - Mind - Winter
From telepathy, to telekinesis, to convincing- the element of mind is primarily non-physically painful in use. There are a large number of different powers that could spawn from this element, so use your imagination and get creative! Besides being the most popular of the twelve, Mind has it's own downsides- just like Energy, Body, and Life, the use of the Mind element saps the user of both their alertness and they become weak, potentially harming themselves.
February - Water - Winter
It's all rather straightforward when it comes to water, right? Wrong. This element can allow the manipulation of any form of liquid. Oils, poisons, chemicals, and even blood. Maybe your character can walk on water. Maybe they can pull all the moisture from the air around them into a tight knot, and hurl a ball of the wet stuff at their foe. Like Fire, Air and Earth, the only weaknesses to the natural element of Water would be the limitation of resources (ie., rivers, a sink) and the consciousness of the user. Don't fall asleep now!
March - Stone - Spring
The great element of Stone can be used as a very offensive or a very defensive power. While raising great walls of rock from the earth is a magnificent feat that can be protective, sending enemies tumbling to their hands and knees while the ground breaks and shifts around them can be exhilaration at its peak! Likewise with Ice, Shade, and Thunder, this element of Stone requires a summoning and/or sacrifice, or else the user will not be able to successfully wield the majestic powers that far exceed the use of the natural elements.
April - Body - Spring
The power to give yourself great stamina, speed, or strength can come in great use during battle and on your character's free time. They don't need to be winning a human marathon to prove this, either. Body can cover shape-shifting, pure ability, or a large many of other types of the element. Similar to Mind, Life, and Energy, your character will quickly lose their concentration and alertness if the power is used for too long.
May - Earth - Spring
The trees are dancing and the ground is bursting forth with new life at this time of year, which is a fitting place for the element of Earth. Thought it may seem mostly for aesthetics at first, having a vine twist its way up around your body while you suffocate, or being buried alive, isn't such a pleasant experience. Don't let the mostly-friendly looking wielders of Earth fool you: like Water, Air, and Fire, it's a natural element, and when the resources are plentiful they can bring hell up to meet you.
June - Shade - Summer
Is it just me, or is the shadow of that tree... moving? If there's a wielder of the element Shade around, it's quite likely. Most well known for invisibility, the power to change the brightness of the area around them, or manipulate darkness to their will, the term "shady character" can appropriately be used. The restrictions are just like Ice, Stone, and Thunder: because shadows are reliant on other forces, a short ritual or sacrifice is needed from the wielder.
July - Energy - Summer
Many people get Energy and Body confused. Energy is not the way to give yourself more stamina or alertness- instead, it's the manipulation of the world's forces around you. From gravity, to sound, and even certain powers over time (MANY restrictions there), Energy can be one of the most exciting elements to use. As the case with Mind, Life, and Body, your character will get sapped upon prolonged use.
August - Fire - Summer
Burn, baby, burn! The hottest (and one of the most popular) of the twelve elements is scorching, and fun. From temperatures, to drying, to the actual flames themselves, the wild natural-element of Fire boasts power and destruction wherever it goes. It is the most 'powerful' of the natural elements, but it is harder to find base materials for- unlike Air, Water, or Earth. Oh, and it's rather useless on rainy days.
September - Thunder - Autumn
If the storms are heading your way with frightening speed, it's likely that there's a Thunder-user somewhere near. Thunder elementalists and Fire elementalists can make the best of friends, as they can work off of each other! From lightning, to small shocks, or raging and nearly-uncontrollable thunderstorms at any time, such a force requires immediate summoning and/or sacrifice of one's own stamina, much like Stone, Ice, or Shade. Don't get zapped, now!
October - Life - Autumn
So maybe we've graduated from simple healing to raising the dead. Wait... what?! Life isn't just playing with magic to save a life, it's bringing one back, too- even if the costs are more than your character may be able to handle. From raising zombie-like minions to assist in battle, to restoring health to your character's dying friends, and even learning to share your life with another to keep them from death's grasp, this element, like Body, Mind, and Energy, needs a great amount of one's own alertness and stamina to use.
November - Air - Autumn
Torrents of wind and gentle breezes are both the arts of Air wielders. The sky is their canvas, and everything around them is paint- or other materials which they can splat up into the winds with their choosing. Not all is kind a soft. Especially not when you're faced by a hurricane that was spun in less than a minute. The second most destructive element, the natural power of Air requires its own materials to be used, much like Fire, Water, and Earth. The thing is, Air's the least likely to run out.
December - Ice - Winter
Ice-wielders celebrate the coming of winter, because of the natural cold, of course! Not only is ice beautiful as it glistens, but it can be hard, and sharp, and made quite easily in the presence of water. When paired with a Water-user, the ground of a battle can get slippery quite quick. Like Shade, Thunder, and Stone, a sacrifice of one's stamina or energy might be required all at once- though significantly less if the season happens to be winter!
