ooc:\\ Just thought that the whole Destiny thing was pretty vague...and stuff. Long, long babble, I know.... anyone's free to join in, I guess. xD
For some, watching the waves of an ocean, as high tide gives way to the low, or as the sun starts to dim over the horizon, leaving the enormous body of water a massive reflection of color and depth, would be remarkably calming.
This did nothing for her.
She took in a slow breath of the salty air, the pale sands of the beach dotting her gloves as the girl rested against a looming rock. Even the setting sun, in its blaze of hues and the way it sparkled over the water seemed empty. The past three years had been a frenetic mess of loss and...unhappiness? The word, as it rolled around in her mind even seemed foreign..the old Salvation could have cared less about the world. Why was it bothering her now?
Her thoughts shifted again as the sky continued to darken, slowly but surely giving way to the night. The blue-greenish glow of the ocean, almost ethereal stirred the memory of a man's eyes.
The eyes were a window to the soul, so they say...
She remembered those eyes now. The calm, disconnected, practically even mocking eyes of the Virtue Destiny, their chase and the spar, the feel of warm red liquid trickling down her arms as she had slain him and claimed her prize. That man couldn't have cared less if he'd lived or died...he had just been in waiting, and almost tired of waiting.
And the prize she'd spoken of, claimed in defence of her cause. The prize, her cause, her raison d'etre, all of it was now nothing but ash and rubble in a city she'd once known. There was a gap in her memory; something important, definitely, but no matter how much she'd tried to raise it in her mind, nothing would appear..
It was almost surreal as she'd trekked back to the OCSNB one day, only to find the building in ruins. The staff, her comrades, the fellow children of creation..no more. Her instructors, dead.
You were reanimated, using some of the most groundbreaking methods of technology and magical ability alike. Know your cause. This is what you live for, and if you fail...
There had never been anything said for 'If The Organization Is Obliterated Before You Are' though, goddamnit. Her nature and ways had never set her close to the other Virtues...she herself had never returned to House Eternity. Salvation had never needed a home..just a place to rest, and that was all.. However, lately..a little moreso than usual, that resolve had weakened a little...she'd actually felt pangs of longing in her..it couldn't be loneliness, could it?
...Now that's a crazy thought. I don't need anyone in the world..... The girl murmured hollow, under her breath as a finger flicked a rock slowly.
There were stars tonight, and she'd apparently enjoy them alone..

If she could help it, Lark wouldn't return to the House tonight.
People were busy in general, but she had no place among them. The city still was recovering from aftershock of that, what she wasn't allowed to speak of. The world was centuries ahead of what she remembered. Even the Virtues had their own routines to attend to.
She sat up, feeling the pull of the ocean as it rocked back into the sea. The long grass brushed her skin soothingly, but her mind was still troubled. Where did she belong? Taint had become her life; now, it seemed nobody remembered. Nothing worked accordingly anymore. She was, in the truest sense of the word, lost.
A shadow fell across the grass near her-- someone was beside the towering rock that nearly blocked out the moon. Slowly, she sat up. Was there danger? She could feel the general atmosphere of a Virtue, and her lips twitched downwards. She didn't have any grudges, but would she ever be left alone?
Preferring to find and not be found, she got to her feet and made her way over. Her red hair, and the Virtue's, both glowed an eerie gold in the starlight.
"Salvation?" She asked slowly, not wanting to startle the girl. This one seemed... distant. Elarkashaye bit her lower lip, remaining a good ten feet or so away. Not all of them liked her. She didn't know about this one.

Her ears perked as they caught a vague crunching, the sound of shoes over sand-and-grass. Instinctively the girl's arm shot to the Chinese sabre laid flat beside her, hand tightly clutching its grip until she heard her..Virtue name, being called.
Thinking about it, it's fairly amusing that I'm a Virtue at all.
Salvation turned, her periwinkle eyes taking in Lark before loosening her grip on the long sword. Elarkashaye...she didn't know much about her, except that she was close to Purity. There seemed no threat in her presence, not today at least...
"...Elarkashaye, was it?" She stood up, dusting herself as she spoke. That damned sand got all over the place.. Cautiously, Salvation made her way closer to the girl...there was something about her that piqued her interest tonight.

Elarkashaye had flinched when Salvation made a quick move to her sword, eyes having had lit up in fear. Only upon relaxing, did the short human smile at the other girl.
"Yeah, tha's right," she offered quietly as Salvation moved towards her. "I didn't mean to bother you. Thought you were one of them that keep tryin' ta bring me back to the palace. But, you don't go there much, from what I've seen." Her accent from the older years, centuries before, was still slight and apparent in her voice.
She dropped on the spot, sitting cross-legged on the ground, and tucking her hands into the elbows of her sweater. The winter air was cold, the ground hard with frost. Did the Virtues feel the changes in the weather, or was it a human thing? Lark looked sideways at Salvation, before patting the ground beside her. The girl was company, talkative or not.

Embarrassingly, she'd actually been stunned for a moment as Elarkashaye patted the ground beside her. Mentally kicking herself as the gesture of friendship actually took longer than normal to process, Salvation sat next to the redhead, awkwardly as usual. Social situations were definitely not her norm..
"Heh, no...I don't believe I've ever entered House Eternity since I became a Virtue. That place holds no importance to me, nor do the people inside it." Her lips curled into a slight frown as she said it, thinking back towards Purity, the giant deer, and again the man she'd beheaded in cold blood. Eyes flickering towards Elarkashaye, she studied the girl next to her closely.
"Why do you return to that place anyway, since it seems you're not all too fond of it?"

"I don't belong there, but my mind tells me I need ta be there," Lark explained with a grimace, her eyes tight as she looked out towards the water. "No part of me likes it much. What is it, other than sittin' around and staring out windows, making casual conversation that goes no'ere 'cause folk seem to have missing memory chunks?"
She heard the possible insult a bit too late, and cast her eyes ground-wards. "Sorry, ma'am. Didn't mean ta make rude of that." The burgundy-haired human bit her lower lip. Crud.
ooc: Eep, short. >_< Sorry.

Ah, right. The missing memories-thingmus had affected everyone else, too.
"S' alright, I guess." Salvation mumbled, eyebrows furrowing as she tried to bring memories to the surface again. Emptier than a slate. "It's not very welcoming is it..even less since the Sins just upped and..left. Somewhat." Her fingers traced across grass and pebbles as she remembered surveying the remains of the Empire Grounds and escaping the wolves. Since then she'd been left aimless and..alone.
That word was a nuisance when it resounded in her mind so often.
Shifting herself and lying down on the grass, the girl watched the sky as the stars twinkled, and she chided herself on how she'd never really observed them any oter way than scientifically before. "Then, what connects you to Purity and House Eternity? Don't mind me if my questions are intrusive...just random curiosity."

Frustration built up inside of her, along with pain. The sins upped and left. The words, though casual, triggered a recollection inside her mind.
No, no, they didn't. You chased us out. You were constantly chasing us! Leave us alone! Leave my sins at peace! A strangled voice cried out pleas, as Elarkashaye continued to stare at the ground. Taint, she thought. What words were the right choice? 'Hi, well, see, I'm actually the leader you guys were all hunting down for centuries. But she's currently not in residence, wanna leave a message? Don't know when she's getting back in.'
Pfft.
To answer the girl's question, Lark shrugged. "I s'pose I'm just a lowly human Purity dragged in and decided ta house. I don't have any'ere else ta be." She cringed at the absolute truth behind that. She owed Purity, that's why. Both this Goddess and the old one. It still didn't mean she had to enjoy being around her all the time.

"...Ah. I see."
An unseen smile passed across Salvation's face as she felt Lark's mood shift a little. There had been a tense moment..something had triggered, hadn't it? The person beside her was more than she'd been letting on...good to know.
"I suppose you don't. You've known her from before, or summat?" Already her gloves were almost burned through, thin bands of latex crisscrossing her arms being all that remained of them. She pulled them apart almost too easily before clenching the remains into her palms. They'd disintegrate within minutes, as always.
She'd need to get some actual rest soon, before the chemicals in her body ran into overdrive.

Lark stared hard at her own hands, trying to find those words she needed that wouldn't raise chaos. "I don't think I knew this Purity b'fore," she answered honestly. She's only one-fortieth of my age, after all. "Somethin' tells me I knew the other rather well."
Well, it was only partly untrue. Her heart ached at the thought of Nitchu. Her friend was now, in all ways, dead to her. Her voice could now only be heard by the Purity she had stood by for the last three years. Deep inside her, this sadness was incredibly rage. She had no connection to the virtues now. Where have my sins gone?! A bolt of pain echoed through her head, and she pressed one hand gingerly to a temple to relieve the pressure. Ahh, not again. She repressed the grimace behind a sad smile. A shadow behind her conscious screamed and Lark fought her own mind. Her spirit was hers, dammit, although she realized with a start that it might get the better of her if she stuck around for too much longer. With an apologetic grimace, she got to her feet. "I'm sorry, Salvation, I need to get back to the Lightlands." Her mind viciously let out a shriek of displeasure. No! Get her! Get her! Lark's vision spun, and suddenly fearing the worst, she took off towards Purity's domain once again, leaving the virtue sitting my the calm ocean. ooc: Blahh, sorry. xD I just needed to get Lark free again. We shall continue our conversation at a later place when Taint doesn't want to send her host on a suicide mission?
