Excerpt from the recordings of 'Teneo', a non-shamanistic Desrian who lived during the time of the Conflicts. This entry is believed to be dated sometime in the ancient twenty-first century, Realm Calendar, some sixteen hundred years before the Prophecy Calendar came into effect.

They are fighting again.

Our lande thunders and our seas threaten to overcome us. Happy they are not with the fire they sit on. Restless is the core, forcing the earth to buckle and the lande to shift apart. Then only can fire rise up to meet his air. They embrace, swiftly but with much cries of joy, before the waters beat them apart again with a rapid tide and violent current. Why be the lande so cruel to those what protects it?

Sun rise many past I witnessed the end what may be it. Fire did howl up, and the sky did shape him into a form. Me, it looks like. My kind. So envious of human are these godly forces? Sea witnessed this creation, and rage did he, pummeling his loving lande until she too molded a man-being out of mud and soil and growth.

No! Cried our shaman, blind were his eyes but not his ears. Beastly things these element-people are, to destroy our existence, to destroy our peace! Fetch me the paper of our gods-touched tree, else elements these are will be gone, and perish we all shall!

Fetch two pieces I did.

Rituals our dancers did dance, verses our chanters did sing, of the need we have for our lande, our hearth, our wind, and our sea. The shaman did write, for twelve days and twelve nights, as the spirit of the flaming gales and the spirit of the tides quaking clashed. No food and no drink he accepted, and he fell ill on the thirteenth morning.

Teneo, to me he said with the voice of a rustling pine. And so it shall be, and so it shall be.

What shall be what? Asked I to the shaman. Like death was his skin, pale and cold. You are not finished!

For me, he sighed back, for the people of the world. Finish it for me, 'and so it shall be'. Save the land you will, not I. Cursed I was when born with this magick. Die with it as well I will. Free the lande and the flame, and the sea and the sky. Dormant the hideous creations will be!

On that breath, he stopped, and died.

The ink I did dip my fingers into, the cool dark ink, which traces the last line upon the page. The finger of the shaman I did slice to draw from him magick blood.

The pure earth and sea, the planes on which we lived, I bound into one scroll as the tide-quake did cease. The tainted fire and air did mercilessly cry out, the flame-gale calmed and disappeared it did also. Dead was the god-touched tree.

Deep inside the trunk we did bury the scrolls, bound and sealed with the spirits of the Tainted and Pure within. Sun rise morrow we cross the calm waters to the west.

This entry is taken from a modern history book regarding the 'Sins' and 'Virtues', two races once believed to have shared Desarith in a moderately peaceful agreement. This chapter was focusing on the rebirth of the two clashing spirits previously mentioned into the host bodies of two young girls, who in turn became known as'Taint' and 'Purity' to their kinds.
